Every install comes with written paperwork from a state licensed mitigator. It shows the radon was handled, it’s good for your records and your tenants, and it goes with the property when you sell.
Keeping the system running
Check the U-tube gauge on the pipe now and then. If the reading moves from its normal mark, or the fan gets noisy, call us.

How long does a typical radon mitigation install take?
Most residential installs are completed in a single visit, often a few hours once the plan is set. Bill looks at the home first so materials and routing are right. Real estate closings get scheduled around the calendar when you tell us the date early.

If a fan we installed fails during its first five years, the visit, labor, and replacement fan are covered.

Yes. American Radon Systems holds Illinois radon mitigation license RNM2018212. Anyone hired to perform radon mitigation in Illinois must be appropriately state licensed. Illinois exempts a person doing measurement or mitigation in the dwelling where that person resides. Measurement and mitigation are separate license categories in Illinois; American Radon Systems holds the mitigation license and helps you get tested with free or $8 county kits.
How long does a radon fan last?
EPA says radon fans may last five years or more, and notes that manufacturer warranties tend not to exceed five years. EPA does not give a fixed replacement date. The fan tells you when it is wearing out: it gets noticeably louder, rattles, grinds, hums, or goes silent, and the manometer drops to level. If a fan we installed fails during its first five years, the service visit, labor, and replacement fan are included.

Yes, for rental units below the third story. At the time of application, before the lease is entered into, or later on request, an Illinois lessor must give the tenant the IEMA-OHS pamphlet Radon Guide for Tenants, copies of any radon records for the unit that show a radon hazard, and the Disclosure of Information on Radon Hazards to Tenants form. A tenant may run their own test early in the lease and share the result, and the landlord may respond with a follow-up test. A documented mitigation system is the cleanest way to close the question for that tenant and the next one.
