Radon System Care & Warranty Information

Thank you for trusting American Radon Systems with your home. This page covers the basics: what was installed, what to keep an eye on, and what to do next.

Installed for your house

Your system was laid out around your foundation, sump or crawlspace details, and the cleanest practical pipe route.

Always-on fan

The fan runs continuously to pull soil gas from below the home and vent it safely outside.

State licensed work

American Radon Systems performs mitigation work under Illinois Radon Mitigation License RNM2018212.

What Was Installed

Most mitigation systems use PVC piping, a continuously running radon fan, and sealed openings to pull radon from below the home before it can build up indoors. The exact layout depends on the house, but the goal is simple: move radon safely outside and keep the system easy to understand.

Bill or the crew should have shown you the manometer, which is the small U-shaped gauge on the pipe. That gauge does not show the radon level. It shows that the fan is creating suction.

Warranty Basics

  • The radon fan has a 5-year replacement warranty.
  • The warranty is transferable while it remains within the warranty period.
  • If the fan stops, gets unusually loud, or something about the system seems wrong, call Bill before trying to take anything apart.

What to Check From Time to Time

Check the U-tube

The liquid levels should be uneven. If both sides are level, the fan may not be pulling.

Listen for the fan

A steady hum is normal. Grinding, rattling, or a fan that suddenly sounds different is worth checking.

Look outside

Make sure the exterior pipe and fan look secure, undamaged, and clear of anything leaning on them.

Leave sealed areas alone

Sump lids, crawlspace covers, and sealed openings are part of the system. Try not to move or disturb them.

Important Next Step

Please Complete a Post-Mitigation Radon Test

After installation, please complete a post-mitigation radon test. That is the way to confirm the radon level in the home after the system has been running.

When you have the result, please send Bill a photo, screenshot, or copy of the report. It helps us keep your job file complete and makes it easier to help if you ever have a question later.

When to Call Bill

Call if the manometer looks flat, the fan sounds wrong, the pipe or fan gets damaged, a sump or crawlspace cover is moved, or your post-mitigation test result raises a question.
