Start with the radon number
The U.S. EPA recommends fixing a home at 4.0 pCi/L or higher, and considering a fix between 2.0 and 4.0 pCi/L. That is on the EPA action level page. If you already have a result, call or text Bill at (815) 370-9682 with the pCi/L, the address, and any date on the calendar. He will tell you what the result means and what a fix would take, at no charge.
If you still need a result and the home is not in a sale, the testing guidance links a free Cook County kit, where that program applies, and an $8 Will County kit, plus detectors you can leave in the home. For a purchase or a listing, use an Illinois-licensed measurement professional. IEMA-OHS publishes the state materials for radon in a real estate transaction, including the seller pamphlet and the radon hazards disclosure.

New-system work is usually scheduled within a week or two, and most installs are completed in a single visit. Fan replacement is usually within a day or two. Have the address, the radon number, a photo of any existing radon pipe, and the date if you have one.
