Radon detectors for your home
A detector you buy once and keep. It shows your radon now, and it keeps showing you after the season changes, after a remodel, and after a system goes in.

The four we recommend
All four measure radon. The difference is the extra sensors and how you want to read them — from the most features to the simplest screen. Any of them will tell you what you need to know.

Reading your first numbers
Give it a few days before you judge anything. Radon swings with weather, wind, and whether the house has been shut up — a single day tells you very little. The long-term average on the screen is the number that matters.
EPA's action level is 4.0 pCi/L, and they suggest considering a fix between 2 and 4. If your average settles above that, the next step is mitigation, not more testing.
Buying or selling a home is the exception. Those transactions usually call for a test by a licensed measurement professional, not a consumer detector. Check with your agent or attorney before you rely on one. More on understanding results
